What is SMS?
SMS stands for Short Message Service. It is a standardised communications protocol for text messaging between mobile phones.
Who provides the SMS service for VisionVPM?
VisionVPM has partnered with MessageMedia, Australasia's largest business SMS provider. MessageMedia are SMS specialists and offer a 100% reliability guarantee to ensure SMS delivery.
Can I use a different provider for my messaging?
No. The messaging software interface has been written specifically for MessageMedia's application.
What do I have to do to set up SMS messaging from VisionVPM?
All you have to do is complete and sign the MessageMedia application form provided for Australia or New Zealand and fax it to MessageMedia. You will then be issued a username and password which you enter into the SMS Setup field in VisionVPM. (Main menu > Clients module > Clients menu > Email / SMS options > SMS Setup.)
How long is the MessageMedia contract?
MessageMedia's application states that there is no minimum term. They also offer a 30-day money back guarantee.
What does SMS messaging cost?
MessageMedia charges an initial sign-up fee of $99 + GST and then a $25 + GST monthly fee which comes off the messaging amount. The cost per message varies with volume. The first 1000 messages per month are 20c + GST. As the number increases, the price drops. Please refer to the MessageMedia application form (NZ or Australia) for further price details.
Can my clients reply?
Yes. VisionVPM checks for replies every time you send an SMS message and identifies who replies are from. You can also check manually for replies. Replies can be found in the SMS Txt message list. (Main menu > Clients module > Clients menu > Email / SMS options > Open Txt Message List.)
Am I charged for my clients' replies?
No. There is no charge for client replies.
What happens when my message is longer than 160 characters?
The standard maximum message length for SMS messages is 160 characters. If your message is longer than 160 characters, the part that is left will flow over into a second message.
Which parts of VisionVPM can SMS messages be sent from?
SMS messages can be sent from the Reminder Schedule, the Marketing Shedule, the Appointment Book and the Client Details window. You can send SMS messages to individual clients or to groups of clients.
